What You'll Be Doing
The General Practice Visiting Medical Officer will provide contemporary, comprehensive and patient-centred medical services that are safe, effective and evidence based. The role includes:
- Admitting, consultative, diagnostic, outpatient, procedural, telehealth and on-call services as required.
- Providing high-quality clinical care across a broad range of acute and chronic presentations.
- Participating in the on-call roster and responding within a reasonable timeframe.
- Supporting education and clinical supervision of junior medical officers and other healthcare staff.
- Participating in quality improvement, risk management and service development activities.
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Essential Requirements
- Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Valid Working With Children Check.
- Cleared Aged Care National Police Check.
- Compliance with NSW Health vaccination requirements.

Selection Criteria
- A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the RACGP/ ACRRM/RACP and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
- Minimum three (3) years post graduate clinical experience. Previous experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or Rural Medicine an advantage.
- Knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of the broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Competence in performing the range of minor urgent procedures commonly undertaken in a rural emergency department including Advanced Life Support and Trauma management
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, and research and quality improvement.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
- Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
