Hunter New England - John Hunter and Maitland Hospitals is seeking experienced and committed Orthopaedic Surgeons to join our team as Visiting Medical Officers. This role provides the opportunity to deliver holistic, best-practice care to inpatients and outpatients across the Hunter New England Local Health District, with a focus on joint replacements and orthopaedic trauma management.
You will play a key role in managing elective and urgent orthopaedic cases, with a particular focus on elective joint replacements. Participation in the emergency and major trauma on call rosters is essential, alongside a commitment to teaching, clinical governance and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Essential Criteria
• Registration as a Specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery with AHPRA
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Fellowship of the Australian Orthopaedic Association
• Training in management of complex orthopaedic trauma
What you’ll do
• Effective clinical management of elective orthopaedic and trauma patients with a focus on joint replacements at John Hunter and Maitland Hospital
• Participation in the emergency roster and treatment of orthopaedic patients at the John Hunter Hospital and participation on the major trauma admitting roster
• Provide education to medical, nursing and allied health staff
