Salary per hour:

Nurse Practitioner: $72.55 - $77.65 

Transitional Nurse Practitioner: $68.50 - $69.87 

An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated Transitional Nurse Practitioner (TNP) or endorsed Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join the Medical Oncology department, Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) in a temporary, part‑time capacity.

This role will provide advanced clinical leadership and expert patient care within Medical Oncology, working collaboratively with medical, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams to support high‑quality, patient‑centred care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of patients with cancer within scope of practice
  • Work collaboratively with Medical Oncology consultants and the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes
  • Support timely access to care, continuity of care and appropriate escalation pathways
  • Contribute to service improvement, clinical governance, and evidence‑based practice
  • Provide education, support and clinical leadership to nursing and allied health staff
  • Participate in audit, quality improvement, and data collection as required

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Registered Authorised Nurse Practitioner with APHRA that has completed the tertiary requirements including a Master Degree (Nurse Practitioner) OR Registered Nurse working in a Transitional Position towards endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner and is currently enrolled in a Tertiary Masters Program for Nurse Practitioner.
  2. Minimum of 5,000 hours of advanced nursing/midwifery practice during the last six years appropriate to the specialty area (or working towards within the next 3 years).
  3. Ability to independently assess, investigate and implement appropriate treatment for patients within advanced nursing practice guidelines.
  4. Demonstrated clinical competency in advanced practice management in cancer care.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and have effective communication and negotiation skills.
  6. Demonstrated skill and expertise in the assessment and management of treatment related toxicities from cancer therapy.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work independently within the wider multidisciplinary team.
