Where you’ll be working
You’ll join the Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services team, based at Tamworth Community Health Services in the Country Music Capital of Australia. You’ll work alongside an energetic, multidisciplinary group of nurses, medical staff and allied health professionals who are enthusiastic about delivering best-practice care for people seeking treatment for substance use. About the role
As a Nurse Practitioner / Transitional Nurse Practitioner, you’ll work at an advanced nursing level with patients experiencing complex substance use issues across a range of locations in the Northern Sector. You’ll provide clinical nursing leadership, advanced drug and alcohol assessments, and patient-centred management planning, while consulting and liaising closely with multidisciplinary team members and other internal and external health professionals. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in maximising health outcomes for clients engaged with the service by leading evidence-based interventions and coordinated, person-centred care.
About you
You’re an advanced practice nurse with a strong foundation in Drug and Alcohol care and a commitment to ethical, person-centred practice. You’re comfortable working autonomously within your scope while contributing actively to a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
You bring:
Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and current endorsement as a D&A Nurse Practitioner or, if transitional, evidence of substantial progress towards endorsement. If not endorsed, the Transitional Nurse Practitioner will be appointed temporarily (up to 3 years) to work towards endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.
Eligibility to Drive in NSW and ability to travel as required.
Advanced practice skills appropriate to a Nurse Practitioner / Transitional Nurse Practitioner role
Significant, specific experience within a Drug and Alcohol setting
Ability to work within defined timeframes and manage competing priorities
Capacity to work autonomously and ethically within a clear scope of practice
Proven leadership skills in the assessment and management of patients with complex substance use issues
