TRAINEE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR – Lorikeet Early Learning Centre, St George Hospital

Then become a part of our passionate, supportive and diverse team of Educators working in Kogarah with this full-time 12 month Traineeship position. Experienced Educators will support you as you learn on the job, while studying for your Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

Lorikeet Early Learning Centre, St George Hospital in Kogarah was established in 1990 to provide care and education to children of parents working within the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD). We are an employer-sponsored, 56 place, centre based service that is well resourced and provides good conditions for staff, including monthly ADOs, dedicated programming time, regular team and staff meetings and professional development. Essential criteria:

You must have:

-          The intention to enrol in a course of study to achieve within 12 months, a Certificate 111 level qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care (this will be arranged by our Service).

-          A genuine interest in and the ability to interact and engage with young children and their families.

-          An understanding of the importance of the health, safety and wellbeing of children in an education and care setting. 

-          A demonstrated willingness to learn, practice, develop and improve professional skills.

-          A willingness to participate in quality improvement activities.

-          Appropriate written and oral communication skills to enable you to communicate effectively through verbal and written means with management, colleagues and families.

The role
 
To work under direct supervision of a cooperative team to provide high quality education and care for children 0-6 years To receive structured and regular guidance and direction to perform the duties expected 
 
To assist in maintaining practices in accordance with the National Quality Framework as well as all Centre and Health District Policies and Procedures.

Selection Criteria
 

  1. Intention to enroll in a course of study to achieve within 12 months, a Certificate 111 level qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent as determined by ACECQA).
  2. Genuine interest and ability to interact and engage with young children and their families.
  3. Understanding of the importance of the health, safety and wellbeing of children in an education and care setting.
  4. Demonstrated willingness to learn, practice, develop and improve professional skills.
  5. Willingness to participate in quality improvement activities.
  6. Appropriate written and oral communication skills to enable you to communicate effectively through verbal and written means with management, colleagues and families.
