This position is open to Addiction Psychiatry Trainees or Advanced Trainees RACP - AChAM.
What you'll be doing
Within the framework of the CORE values of NSW Health (Collaboration Openness, Respect Empowerment) and the Policies of the MNC LHD, the Trainee will provide effective medical services, under supervision, to patients with substance use disorder of varying severity, while developing expertise in psychiatric practice, in a complex clinical environment.
The successful applicant will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide both inpatient and outpatient care of patients with the focus of the role being advanced care of the range of substance use disorders.
The Position will be able to work effectively across all units of the MNCLHD Alcohol and Other Drug Services including the opioid treatment program, the inpatient unit in Port Macquarie, Consultation Liaison, and general AOD Outpatient clinics. The position also will participate in the after-hours roster as required.
The position is accredited as an advanced training position in Addiction Psychiatry with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists for eligible trainees.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Completion of the first 3 years of Psychiatry training within the RANZCP training program and eligible for advanced training in Addiction Psychiatry.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a complex clinical environment, demonstrated excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management; knowledge of relevant NSW Health policy, including EEO and OH&S.
- Willingness to travel across the district and to deliver patient care and preparedness to participate in after-hours work as required.
- Preparedness and ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
- Experience and willingness to teach junior medical staff.
