An exciting opportunity exists to join the NSW Medical Administration Training Program in Sydney Local Health District.
Where you'll be working
The NSW Medical Administration Program offers a coordinated approach to training that brings together the health system, hospitals, Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) and experienced doctors to ensure that the on-the-job training available in NSW is the best on offer in Australia.
As a Medical Administration trainee, you will join the state-wide Medical Administration Training Network in NSW. You will be supervised by an appropriate supervisor in line with RACMA training requirements and accreditation.
Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is offering candidates the opportunity to work in an exciting position within Clinical Services Integration and Population Health (CSIPH).
What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the role of Medical Administration Trainee is to provide administration, management and leadership of clinical and medical services, under supervision, whilst undertaking the training program of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA).
The CSIPH Medical Administration Trainee will report directly to the Executive Director Clinical Services Integration and Population Health and work across the full Directorate, which comprises innovative services and programs delivered within the community by multidisciplinary teams targeting priority populations. The Medical Administration Trainee will be exposed to senior executive management and governance, other Government and non-government agencies, service delivery planning, research opportunities, and integrated service delivery models and programs. The Medical Administration Trainee will also work with the SLHD Executive Clinical Advisor, supporting their portfolio in medical workforce governance and management.
This role is an excellent opportunity for a Medical Administration Trainee to gain management experience in areas such as community-based integrated health care and medical workforce management. There is a degree of flexibility for the Medical Administration Trainee to shape their workplan within the vast body of work undertaken by the Directorate, in conjunction with their supervisors.
Trainees are assigned a RACMA Preceptor and at least one training supervisor who is a specialist medical administrator (FRACMA), the arrangements for which may alter according to training needs over the duration of the appointment, in order to be exposed to a variety of supervisors and leadership styles. The incumbent will participate in ongoing performance review processes in line with College training and hospital performance review requirements.
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
- Evidence of ability to develop across the continuum from novice to master, i.e. participation in term assessments and reports for new trainees, or RACMA based reports for existing trainees.
- Ability to demonstrate high levels of enthusiasm, initiative, flexibility, time management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to gather information, analyse data and provide reports with appropriate recommendations.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally to a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to demonstrate the CORE values of NSW Health, namely Collaboration, Openness, Respect, and Empowerment.
