The Clinical Research Unit for Anxiety and Depression (CRUfAD) at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney has a position for an advanced trainee in psychiatry. CRUfAD is an internationally renowned clinical and research centre specializing in anxiety Disorders and Depression. It is staffed by consultant psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and rotating basic trainees. CRUfAD is affiliated with the School of Psychiatry at the University of New South Wales.

What you'll be doing
More than 1,000 patients are treated each year at CRUfAD. It is the largest treatment centre for people with internalizing disorders in the country. Treatment is delivered in the face to face clinic at the hospital where there are individual programs for people with Panic Disorder & Agoraphobia, Social Phobia, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Simple Phobia, Body Dysmorphic Disorder Hypochondrias and Major Depressive Disorder. We also treat people over the web via www.crufadclinic.or reaching patients throughout Australia.
The internet programs are for social phobia, panic disorder & agoraphobia, generalized anxiety disorder, and major depressive disorder. The successful appointee should develop clinical expertise in all these fields. The successful appointee should develop clinical expertise in all these fields. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate in the ongoing research program at CRUfAD and teach in the undergraduate medicine program at UNSW. The appointee will take responsibility for the scheduling of the fifth year medical students who rotate through the service. The candidate will also participate in the teaching program and overtime roster at St Vincent’s Hospital Mental Health Service.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Experience commensurate with the role (Stage 3 Trainee commencing 2026 Clinical Year) and Eligible to be accredited by the RANZCP as an Advanced Trainee
- Demonstrated experience in cognitive behaviour therapy for internalizing disorders
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated capacity to work within a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience commensurate with the role expectations (Stage 3 Trainee at commencement of 2026 Clinical Year)
- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the philosophies, mission and values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries
