An exciting opportunity exists for a Trainee in Addiction Medicine at St Vincent's Hospital Sydney. Within the framework of the Mission, Vision, Values and Philosophy of the Mary Aikenhead Ministries, as well as the Policies of St Vincent's Hospital, the Trainee will provide effective medical services, under supervision, to patients presenting to St Vincent's hospital with substance use disorder of varying severity, while developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment.

What you'll be doing The successful applicant will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide both inpatient and outpatient care of patients with the focus of the role being advanced care of the range of substance use disorders focusing on the specialised treatment of drug and alcohol withdrawal, and post-withdrawal management. Candidates are expected to participate in the weekend overtime roster for the Alcohol and Drug Service. |
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Completion of at least of two (2) years postgraduate experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a complex clinical environment, demonstrated excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
- Experience and willingness to teach junior medical staff and demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management; knowledge of relevant NSW Health policy, including EEO and OH&S
- Ability to move between services and geographical locations to deliver patient care and preparedness to participate in after-hours work as required
- Preparedness and ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the philosophies, mission and values of the Mary Aikenhead Ministries
