The Mechanical Technical Officer is part of the Clinical Engineering department which provides a high quality biomedical technical support service across South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD). The position is based in the mechanical workshop and is responsible for supporting the fabrication of assistive devices for people with disabilities, modifying wheelchairs, and providing general mechanical fabrication support to the Clinical Engineering Department. The position focuses on rehabilitation engineering solutions in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and Industry Guidelines to deliver safe, effective, and reliable rehabilitation devices to patients throughout SESLHD.

Selection Criteria: 

1. Relevant qualifications such as a Certificate 3 or above or relevant equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience.
2. Ability to apply independent judgment and initiative to effectively plan, schedule, coordinate and carry out technical service delivery.
3. Good level of knowledge and skill in the use of mechanical workshop machines, such as a Lathe, Mill, welding machines and hand tools.
4. Ability to communicate effectively to influence a wide range of stakeholders, including clinical staff, equipment suppliers, service providers, team members and managers.
5. Experience in the use of information systems and software to manage, analyse and present data.
6. Able to demonstrate a commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous improvement
