The IPARVAN Referral Management and Early Response (RMER) Service Team Leader plays a pivotal role in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community who have experienced violence, abuse and neglect. The position provides clinical leadership and operational oversight of a specialised multidisciplinary team responsible for managing referrals, conducting early clinical assessments, providing brief interventions, and coordinating access to support services across Sexual Assault Services, Domestic Violence Services and Child Protection Counselling Services.
This role makes a meaningful impact by ensuring clients receive timely, trauma-informed and person-centred care at the earliest point of contact. Through effective referral management, clinical supervision and service coordination, the Team Leader helps reduce delays in accessing support, improves client outcomes, strengthens service responsiveness, and ensures high-risk clients are prioritised appropriately.
As a key leadership position within the PARVAN Directorate, the role contributes to the delivery of safe, high-quality and accessible services, while supporting staff development, maintaining clinical governance, and fostering strong partnerships across health, government and community agencies. The position is essential to ensuring vulnerable children, young people, adults and families receive the support they need when they need it most.

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate leader with a strong background in supporting individuals and families affected by violence, abuse and neglect. The ideal candidate will have advanced clinical skills in assessment, crisis intervention, case management and counselling, along with a demonstrated understanding of the impacts of trauma, domestic and family violence, child protection and sexual assault.
To succeed in this role, you will be a confident and collaborative leader with experience managing teams in complex and emotionally demanding environments. You will possess excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining high-quality, client-centred care.
You will be skilled in clinical supervision, service coordination and building strong partnerships across health, government and community sectors. A commitment to trauma-informed practice, continuous quality improvement and achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable children, young people, adults and families is essential.
Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
- A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia or eligible for same with completion of a four-year sequence of accredited undergraduate study in the discipline of psychology (or equivalent completed overseas) and been employed on year 9 on the psychology scale for at least 1 year.
- High level of understanding of; Child Protection, the Children and Young Peoples Care and Protection Act and issues related to children, young people and adults affected by violence, abuse, and neglect.
Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
