Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) is seeking a passionate and motivated Sustainability Project Officer to join our Infrastructure, Planning and Sustainability team.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering sustainability initiatives that support healthier communities and a more environmentally responsible health system.

 

About the role

As a Sustainability Project Officer, you will support the development and delivery of sustainability projects across the District. Working with a diverse range of stakeholders, you will coordinate projects from planning through to implementation and evaluation, ensuring alignment with strategic and legislative requirements.

You will:

  • Support the design and implementation of sustainability initiatives across HNELHD

  • Coordinate stakeholders and build strong partnerships across clinical and corporate teams

  • Manage project plans, documentation, reporting and evaluation activities

  • Analyse data to inform decision-making and track project outcomes

  • Contribute to change management strategies to ensure successful and sustainable outcomes

  • Identify and manage project risks and competing priorities

 

About you

You are a proactive and solutions-focused professional with a passion for sustainability and improving healthcare outcomes. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can effectively engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.

You will bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, project management, sustainability or a related field

  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects and supporting change management initiatives

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and inform decisions

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

  • The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team

  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
