About the Opportunity
Liverpool Hospital is looking for an experienced Sterilisation Technician to join our dynamic Sterilisation Services Department. This is a great chance to work with advanced equipment in a modern, well equipped environment while playing a vital role in supporting surgical teams and ensuring patient safety.
You’ll be responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, packaging, and sterilisation of surgical instruments, working to the highest standards of infection control. While you’ll have the independence to manage tasks under general supervision, you’ll also collaborate with a friendly multidisciplinary team and share your expertise by mentoring Grade 1 Sterilisation Technicians. This is a seven day full rotation role, offering variety and the chance to be part of the department’s operations across the entire week.
We’re seeking candidates with solid experience in sterilisation services, strong attention to detail, and a proactive, team focused attitude.

What You'll be Doing
The purpose of Grade 2 Sterilisation Technician is to provide a quality customer service by undertaking the operational activities performed by the Sterilising Services Department, for the process of reusable medical devices in accordance with AS/NZS4187:2014. This position requires a sound level of experience with ability to work independently, under general supervision and provides support to Grade 1 Sterilising Technicians.

- Certificate II or III in Health Service Assistance (Sterilisation Services) or equivalent.
- Describe your experience working in a Hospital Sterilising Services Department. How do you ensure compliance with AS 5369:2023, Infection Prevention and Control, and WH&S requirements when processing complex medical devices, including Orthopaedic loan equipment?
- Please provide an example from your experience in Sterilisation Services where you were required to uphold strict compliance with established best practice standards while working under significant pressure. How did you manage the situation, and what was the outcome?
- This role requires staff to work a rotating roster, including weekend and Public Holidays for the provision of a 7 day / 24hour service to the Peri-Operative Services Department. Are you able to work a full rotating roster?
