Fairfield Hospital is seeking a Sterilisation Technician to join our Perioperative Services team and play a vital role in supporting safe, high‑quality patient care. In this position, you will be responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting, packaging, sterilising, and distribution of reusable medical devices in accordance with AS5369‑2023 standards. Your precision, consistency, and commitment to infection control will directly contribute to the smooth delivery of surgical services and positive patient outcomes.

Success in this role requires strong organisation, the ability to multi‑task, and a commitment to meeting deadlines while upholding strict infection control standards.
Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
1. Do you currently hold a Certificate II or III in Health Service Assistance (Sterilisation Services) or equivalent? Please attach a copy of all relevant qualifications with your application.
2. This role involves cleaning, disinfecting, packaging, and sterilising reusable medical devices in line with AS5369-2023 standards. Can you describe any experience you have with following strict procedures or protocols? How did you ensure accuracy and safety?
3. Working in Sterilising Services requires effective communication and teamwork, especially when reporting equipment issues or delays. Can you provide an example of how you’ve worked in a team environment to solve a problem or maintain service delivery?
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently to process & store endoscopes using automated endoscope reprocessor (AERs), Endodry cabinet & other complex devices as applicable
