About the role:

This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with AS/NZS 4187:2014 – Reprocessing of Reusable Medical Devices in Health Service Organisations. You will provide hands-on training, technical support, and mentorship to staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery that meets customer needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and supervising staff and daily operations.
  • Working across all areas of Sterilising Services and Endoscopy Reprocessing to uphold high standards in sterilisation and other procedures performed within the unit
  • Assisting in the delivery of a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Building strong professional relationships and maintaining effective communication with all healthcare staff.
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring a consistently high standard of service to all patient care areas.
  • Supporting the Manager with daily operational activities, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and fulfillment of customer expectations.

About you:

We are looking for someone with:

  • An ability to liaise with colleagues and other health professionals effectively and in line with NSW Health CORE Values.
  • Experience in sterilisation services and instrument processing.
  • Ability to demonstrate competencies associated with work practice requirements of SSD.
  • Ability to apply Infection Control and Occupational Health and Safety standards.
  • Ability to problem solve effectively.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service to all external and internal customers.
  • An understanding of and ability to apply occupational health and safety principles to ensure own safety and that of others in the workplace.

 

Requirements:

  • Sterilisation Technology Certificate II or III in health service assistance (sterilisation services) or equivalent qualification and relevant experience in sterilisation services department within a healthcare facility

 
Additional Information:

  • To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable local candidate is identified for the position; in this instance, you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
