About the role
This Locum role of Staff Specialist (3 weeks from mid-March 2026) works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure that the service at Braeside Hospital functions in a way that aligns with the Mission, Vision and Mission-in-Action of HammondCare, to ensure that the medical and other care provided to patients at Braeside is of high quality.
The Rosella Unit is a 16-bed subacute older person’s mental health unit within Braeside Hospital. The unit services consumers with a diverse range of clinical problems, including the major psychosis, mood disorders, and severe behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. There is also a community team covering the Liverpool-Fairfield LGA’s and a limited consultation liaison service to Liverpool and Fairfield Hospital
HammondCare is a NSW Health-affiliated organisation all NSW Health transferrable entitlements will be recognised.
Duties include:
Provide demonstrably high quality specialist services for OPMHs inpatient services
To work within healthcare teams and with other senior medical staff in a cooperative and collegiate way, evidencing the Mission, Motivation and Mission In Action of HammondCare;
Undertake teaching of medical students and trainee doctors and undertake research in OPMHs as opportunities present.
About you
Registered (or registerable) as a Specialist Medical Practitioner in Psychiatry in Australia (AHPRA)
FRANZCP or equivalent Consultant qualification, preferably also holding Fellowship of the Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age
Demonstrated sound, effective communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a team
Organisational ability, both personal organisation and ability to supervise
Willingness to participate in teaching and research projects
Current Driver’s Licence
Research Qualification (desirable)
