Selection Criteria

 

1.      Possess or be eligible for registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

2.      Possess Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1997 and Public Hospital (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination, Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.

3.      Sound clinical knowledge in Emergency Medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.

4.      High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.

5.      Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards. Commitment to the career development of junior medical staff.

6.      Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.

7.      Commitment and or experience in clinical research and quality improvement to support basic, applied, or clinical research as required within the Emergency Department.

8.      Proven understanding and demonstrated capacity to comply with the service objectives of the public health organisation. Sound knowledge and understanding of EEO principles and ability to ensure their own and co-workers’ safety by adopting safe work practices and compliance with WH&S policies and procedures.

 Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997, and Public Hospital (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination,

 Employees and Contractors must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
