Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking a Director of Child and Adolescent Mental Health to join our Mental Health Services team.
The Director Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service SLHD holds responsibility as the medical leader and manager of the clinical services, medical staff and training, research and quality programs and other functions relevant to the Service. The Director will work within the SLHD Mental Health Executive to ensure activities within the Service align to broader SLHD objectives.
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service provides specialist mental health services to children and adolescents from 5-18 years of age and their families. These services are provided at outpatient clinics and in community settings. The Rivendell Adolescent Unit provides hospital-based care for adolescents in school years 7–12 in collaboration with the NSW Department of Education. Walker Unit at Concord Centre for Mental Health is a NSW-wide specialist adolescent unit for young people with a history of multiple or prolonged mental health unit admissions. Non-admitted services are provided by Community Adolescent Outreach Services at Camperdown and Canterbury Community Health Centres, and the Safeguards team and outpatient services at Rivendell.
The Director Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service will work in collaboration with medical nursing and allied health colleagues to promote evidence-based practice and innovation for excellence in care and continuous improvement. The Director will also manage clinical quality, critical incidents and complaints, financial management and performance of the service and operation of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service facilities. In addition to their Director role, they will provide clinical management of patients as part of the senior medical workforce and within their approved scope of clinical practice.
As clinical leader, they will enhance clinical engagement and professional practice and standards, as well as a culture of respect for the individual, teamwork and continuous performance improvement.
The successful applicant will be a current registered Medical practitioner, registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrist (RANZCP) and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
