About the Role

Sydney Local Health District is one of the fastest growing Local Health Districts in New South Wales. Our facilities and services are world class, and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring. 
 
In this role you will provide high quality professional health care interpreting and/or translation services to facilitate communication between health care providers and patients in certified and/or assessed and approved language/s to support equity and access to health care services for patients/clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds or the Deaf community.
 
This position is based either at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital or Prince of Wales Hospital (to be discussed with successful applicant) however staff may also be required to work from other SHCIS Interpreter bases at Canterbury Hospital, St George Hospital and Concord Hospital.

Ideal Candidate

  • NAATI Certification when the language is certified by NAATI; or Recognition if certification is not available. 
  • Capacity to interpret in a healthcare setting. 
  • Ability to identify and convey the social and cultural factors affecting health care to ensure high quality performance. 
  • Ability to identify ethical dilemmas and to deal with them in compliance with AUSIT Code of Ethics. 
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable) and willingness to travel.
  • Ability to work a Monday to Friday roster.
