The Role

The BUBs Quit Midwife (BQM) is responsible for delivering smoking cessation interventions to women recruited into the BUBs Quit study. This requires delivering four (4) targeted smoking cessation sessions using behaviour change techniques and digital technologies to smoking pregnant women across multiple NSW Health Maternity and Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Services (AMIHS).

The BQM works in partnership with the BUBs Quit Study Co-ordinator, Maternity Managers and NSW Ministry of Health.

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated understanding of the professional, ethical, and legal requirements of a registered midwife, including the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) standards for practice.
  2. Demonstrated application of professional and ethical boundaries to the delivery of woman centred care in the context of a multi-disciplinary team.
  3. Demonstrated ability to manage the midwifery care of a woman by applying evidence-based practice and critical thinking.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise and in accordance with NSW Health CORE Values.
  5. Demonstrated high-level interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of the role of a midwife in applying continuous improvement to quality and safety and a keen interest in preventative health.
  7. Demonstrated recent post registration midwifery experience in an acute care facility.
