The Role

This position is required to support the Trauma Service and clinical team in the preparation of reports and response to data requests, within the scope of responsibility to ensure appropriate data is provided to meet the needs of St George Hospital, the South East Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD), the Institute of Trauma and Injury Management (ITIM) within the Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI), and NSW Health.

     Selection Criteria 
 

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in health information management, biostatistics or relevant equivalent work experience or a combination of study and work experience
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and appreciation of the processes of data analysis including the ability to analyse, interpret and present complex information.
  3. High level skills with Microsoft software and clinical information systems.
  4. Experience with the Collector database used by ITIM to collect and analyse injury data in NSW or willingness to undertake training
  5. Completion or enrolment in the Injury Scaling: Uses and Techniques Course run by ITIM on behalf of the Association for the Advanced Automotive Medicine (AAAM) in the USA. This course introduces the Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) which is essential for coding injury data.
  6. Demonstrated effective time management skills with the ability to independently prioritise workload to meet conflicting deadlines
  7. Demonstrated strong customer service focus and ability to handle controversial and emotive issues/information confidently and confidentially.
  8. Excellent communication skills written and verbal, and interpersonal skills to prepare reports and liaise with senior management, health professionals, and external agencies.
