A motivated and enthusiastic Speech Pathologist is sought to join the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital Speech Pathology team. The position is 27hrs permanent part time and required to work the hours across minimum 4 days to allow for maximum therapy provided to patients on our rehabilitation ward. The position will also gain broad experience across the whole of hospital, including access to instrumental assessment and swallow rehabilitation methods including EMST and sEMG.

Where you'll be working

 
Hornsby Hospital. Please note location will transfer to Ryde Hospital in 2027 (timeframe unconfirmed at this time).

What you'll be doing

The position will predominantly work on the rehabilitation ward providing services to patients with swallowing and communication difficulties, however will also have a small outpatient caseload in addition to assisting on the acute wards as the caseload requires. The position is part time and has specific hours set to provide the best service to patients on the rehabilitation ward. The position will work closely within a neuro rehab team of Speech Pathologists, as well as an Allied Health Assistant. Patients will be seen daily or twice daily depending on need and the role will also work closely with the multidisciplinary team.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria: 

  1. Bachelor or post graduate degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia. Current drivers licence.
  2. Experience in the assessment and management of communication difficulties in an inpatient rehabilitation, acute and/or outpatient setting, including LSVT or Speak Out.
  3. Experience in the assessment and management of swallowing difficulties in an inpatient rehabilitation, acute and/or outpatient setting, including instrumental assessment and provision of swallow rehabilitation.
  4. Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use health information systems.
