True Colours Clinic is a Trans and Gender Diverse (TGD) health service for people aged 16- 25 (AYA) and is one of the Metropolitan Sydney Services developed to provide gender affirming care in NSW in partnership with Sydney Children’s Hospital Network.

True Colours is a holistic, multidisciplinary clinic and provides person-centred, safe, quality, and inclusive gender affirming care and treatment to the TGD population aged 16-25 years of age. The clinic works alongside community and consumers to provide safe, affirming, person-centred inclusive care. This position is suitable for a Speech Pathologist with experience working with young people aged 16- 25 (AYA) and/or trans and gender diverse clients.

True Colours will provide a high-quality clinical service to clients/consumers and their families/carers to ensure optimal clinical outcomes. This position works in a multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, nurses, allied health, and peer workers to support client needs and goals. 

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.

A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.

In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

  1. Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award with eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
  2. Extensive post graduate clinical experience in Speech pathology including experience in the assessment and management of disorders of communication and voice across the age range and an interest in working with young people in a multidisciplinary trans health team.
  3. Demonstrated advanced communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and proven application of the practice development framework to clinical practice.
  4. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes.
  5. Demonstrated ability to independently problem-solve and apply professional and ethical boundaries when working with complex situations as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  6. Identify and act on opportunities for improvement in clinical practice, and develop and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and client/patient/consumer outcomes.
  7. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes.
