An opportunity exists for a motivated Speech Pathologist to join the Allied Health team at Tamworth Hospital, delivering high quality, evidence based services within a supportive regional health setting.


About the Role

This position is suited to a Speech Pathologist seeking to consolidate and expand their clinical skills across a broad adult caseload.

The role provides experience across multiple clinical areas, including: Emergency Department (ED), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Acute Medical and Surgical wards, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care and Outpatient services.

You will contribute to the assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders, with access to instrumental assessment services such as Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Studies (VFSS). Clinical supervision, support, and professional development opportunities are provided to assist you in building confidence and capability in a complex healthcare environment.

Tamworth Hospital is the second largest facility in Hunter New England Local Health District and serves as the major referral centre for the North-West region.

The hospital provides a comprehensive range of services and is supported by a multidisciplinary workforce including medical specialists, nursing staff, and allied health professionals. About You

This role is ideal for clinicians looking to build a strong foundation in adult acute and subacute care within a regional health service. To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia

  • Emerging and/or existing clinical skills in the assessment and management of swallowing and communication disorders

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Effective communication, time management, and organisational skills

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice
     

Essential Requirements

  • Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology which provides eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Eligible to drive in NSW with a current unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence, and the willingness to travel for work purposes.

Additional Information

  • Based on a minimum 18-month commitment to the position or the agreed duration of your contract. All payments to part-time and contract employees will be made on a pro-rata basis in accordance with the terms of your contract, including any approved extensions. If your contract ends before the agreed completion date, you may be required to repay a portion of the incentive. Please note: the increased RHWIS allowance is approved until 30th June 2026. Commencement after this date may be subject to change, including the allowance amount for which the candidate may be eligible.
