We’re currently recruiting Speech Pathologists across multiple locations – from vibrant regional hubs to welcoming rural communities. Working in a rural location allows you to experience the full scope of speech pathology all under the one Health Service.

About the job:
There are multiple opportunities within Hunter New England to expand your skillset and gain valuable and unique experiences in a rural setting. This is a chance to fast-track your career due to ongoing exposure to different clinical areas and presentations. You would have the flexibility and independence to manage your own caseload as well as contribute positively to the wider multidisciplinary team. You would be actively supported with clinical supervision arrangements and a strong, well-developed Northern Speech Pathology Network. The Northern Speech Pathology network is also supported by a range of clinical working groups and continuing professional development activities.

Out available locations:
  • Quirindi (0.25FTE) - Nestled in the Liverpool Plains, Quirindi has a strong sense of community. Known for its picturesque landscapes and agricultural heritage, it's an ideal place for professionals seeking a peaceful yet fulfilling lifestyle. This is a level 3 opportunity (but open to level 1/2s) to deliver a high-quality service to the inpatients, outpatients and community of Quirindi. Learning from the highly-skilled Speechie in your team this would be great to develop your generalist skills.
  • Narrabri (0.58FTE)- As a rural hospital, there is lots of opportunity for you to take on a varied range of tasks. The team are completely committed to building and developing their own staff, so if continued learning and growth are what you're after, then Narrabri is the place for you. Enjoy a varied caseload, encompassing both paediatric and adults, as well as adult inpatients - this role will see you develop well-rounded Speech Pathology skills. Although this is open to level 103 applicants, you would be working alongside another enthusiastic speech pathologist to strengthen your generalist skills.
  • Inverell (0.37FTE) - Nestled in the heart of north-west NSW, Inverell is more than just a town - it's a lifestyle. Known for its sapphire mining and vibrant community, it's the type of welcoming place where people say hello to each other on the street. With a great multi-disciplinary team, this would be a well-supported role where you could develop your skills as a generalist Speechie in the community setting. This is a level 3 opportunity.

  • * Based on a minimum 18-month commitment to the position or the agreed duration of your contract. All payments to part-time and contract employees will be made on a pro-rata basis in accordance with the terms of your contract, including any approved extensions.   • For Level 3 positions, if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 will be considered. The selection criteria reflect the requirements for Level 3 applicants. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with his/her years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.
