Parkes Health Service
About the role
In this role, you’ll deliver communication and swallowing services across the lifespan, from infants to older adults. This includes outpatient support and in-reach to Parkes Hospital Inpatients. Each day brings new challenges and learning opportunities with a generalist caseload that ensures no two days are ever the same.
Our community-based setting means you'll collaborate closely with clients, families, preschools, schools, and other local services – and make a visible impact in people’s lives.
Our leadership is approachable, responsive, and future-focused. We encourage innovation and provide a safe space to stretch your skills.
Your career journey matters to us - whether that’s developing advanced clinical skills, leading innovative programs, collaborating on new service models or stepping into leadership.
With an interest in leadership, our previous speech pathologist progressed to Community & Allied Health Manager, and now holds a management position in the State Emergency Service (SES). She still pops back to do casual cover because she misses the community and the clinical work. Before that, our long-term clinician applied her skills innovatively with Riding for the Disabled NSW.
Your team are more than colleagues – they’re a community of learners, problem-solvers, and advocates. As a multidisciplinary team, you’ll draw from each other’s strengths daily. Monthly collaboration with the District’s regional speech pathologists will cover case discussions, QI projects and resource sharing. Plus you’ll experience the twice a year District-wide Speech Pathology Area Days as an additional forum for PD and networking.
