The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and compassionate Speech Pathologist Level 1/2 to join our multidisciplinary community health team.

In this role, you will support adult clients living with chronic and complex health conditions to achieve their goals, with the aim of improving their communication and swallowing skills, function, independence and quality of life through evidence-based, person-centred care.

As a valued member of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with a range of health professionals to deliver coordinated and holistic care. You will have the opportunity to develop your clinical skills while working with a diverse caseload and contributing to positive health outcomes for people living across the Nepean Blue Mountains region.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Speech Pathology, with eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
  2. Experience in the assessment and management of acquired swallowing disorders in older people with chronic and complex health conditions.
  3. Demonstrated ability to analyse problems, set priorities and apply a range of options to develop timely solutions.
  4. A demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice, professional development, and clinical supervision.
  5. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills, and good computer skills
  6. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as the ability to work productively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  7. Current NSW Driver Licence, including P1 or above, and willingness to use for work purposes. This may include driving long distances across NBMLHD.


Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
