NBMLHD Community Mental Health offers a range of specialised services for children, young people, families and older people, through our community-based services and health centers. Our multidisciplinary health professionals and case managers take a collaborative approach to mental health care by linking with their patients to work together and consult within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to provide comprehensive clinical mental health services to individuals experiencing mental illness or mental disorder. In this role, you will deliver care that is least intrusive, highly collaborative, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented, ensuring that each person’s needs, strengths, and goals remain central to all interventions. You will work within a family-responsive framework, using evidence-based practice to support individuals in their recovery journey while promoting dignity, respect, and inclusion.
You will play a key role in encouraging self-advocacy, empowering clients to take an active role in their care, and building their capacity for optimal independent functioning within the community. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute your clinical expertise to assessment, care planning, and therapeutic interventions, while fostering strong partnerships with families, carers, and community supports.

What you will bring to the role
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work with post graduate experience in mental health and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Demonstrated skills in mental health Social Work assessments and social and clinical interventions and demonstrated experience working with people with mental illness.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with consumers and carers with a commitment and understanding of trauma informed care and recovery principles in mental health service provision.
- Demonstrated understanding of culturally sensitive practice and commitment to Aboriginal mental health and wellbeing principles and practice improvement.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and good interpersonal skills.
- Computer competence and literacy.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of NSW Mental Health Act, 2007
- Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel. Ability to travel within the LHD in accordance with the position
