Are you an experienced Senior Social Worker and want to work with an innovative Youth Mental Health Team? Come and join our dynamic multidisciplinary mental health team providing care and support for young people.The Early Psychosis Programme is a multi-disciplinary community mental health team providing specialist early intervention treatment to young people (14-25 years) who are at risk of, or are experiencing, psychosis. The Senior Social Worker/Family Worker is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing high levels of clinical expertise and specialised knowledge in order to provide high quality Social Work care to families, carers and young people of the Early Psychosis Programme consistent with NSW Health, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards.

The Early Psychosis Programme, Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Team, is based in Bondi Junction in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. This is a dynamic, industry leading service providing evidence-based Early Intervention in Psychosis.

Selection Criteria: 

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.

  1. Hold as a minimum a bachelor’s degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
  2. Extensive post graduate clinical experience in Mental Health Social Work, including working with young people, carers and family, and across diversity of gender, culture and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of Early Intervention philosophy, principles and practice
  4. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
  5. Proven ability to provide high level clinical advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence
  6. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a complex nature
  7. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff
  8. Current NSW Drivers licence
