About the role
As a Social Worker at Gloucester Health Service, you’ll play an important role in supporting patients and their families through high-quality assessment, treatment, and case coordination. You’ll work with confidence and autonomy, using your professional judgment to guide care that is evidence-based and aligned with legal, ethical, and organisational standards. Collaboration is at the heart of this role, you’ll partner with clients, families, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred, culturally sensitive interventions. Along the way, you’ll provide guidance and reassurance to assist with complex cases on the ward, and look for opportunities to improve clinical practice and enhance outcomes. You’ll have support from experienced clinicians across Rural Regional Services and Manning Base Hospital, ensuring you never feel isolated in your role. Your orientation will be delivered on-site, giving you the chance to settle in and build connections with the team from day one. Where you'll be working 
Gloucester Health Service is located on the beautiful Biripi Country and is part of the Rural and Regional Health Service, within Hunter New England Local Health District. The service includes Gloucester Soldiers Memorial Hospital (GSMH), which operates a 14-bed General Ward and a 3-bed Emergency Department, supported by dedicated Local and Visiting Medical Officers. The facility also features an Operating Theatre with Visiting Surgeons providing General Surgery and Ophthalmology services.

Co-located with the hospital, the Community Health Centre delivers a comprehensive range of nursing and allied health services, supporting the health and wellbeing of the local community. The successful applicant will be based within this centre. Located just 3½ hours north of Sydney, 60 minutes from Forster, and 90 minutes from Newcastle (home to the nearest airport), Gloucester offers the perfect blend of professional opportunity and regional charm. Nestled in the Barrington Coast hinterland of New South Wales, the town is renowned for its dairy and cattle farms and serves as the gateway to the World Heritage-listed Barrington Tops National Park. Surrounded by rolling hills, rivers, and natural beauty, Gloucester is a friendly, close-knit community and a popular destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

About you
We're looking for someone who:

  • Is self-motivated, confident, and able to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Uses exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver compassionate, person-centred care.
  • Brings an excellent work ethic, strong time management, and the ability to engage effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrates a genuine commitment to Closing the Gap and improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Has experience with the Aged Care and NDIS systems or is eager to further develop their understanding in these areas.
  • Possesses knowledge of, or a willingness to learn, the processes involved with the Guardianship Tribunal.
  • Builds meaningful connections with clients and colleagues while maintaining professional integrity and ethical boundaries.


Requirements 

  • Bachelor in Social Work or equivalent with eligibility for membership with Australian Association of Social Work (AASW)
