About the Role
The Maitland Mental Health Unit, part of Hunter New England Local Health District and located within Maitland Hospital, is seeking an experienced and motivated Level 1/2 Social Worker to join the multidisciplinary team on a permanent part-time basis (2 days per week).
In this role, you will provide high-quality clinical social work services to consumers admitted to the inpatient mental health unit, supporting both patients and their families/carers through acute mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive psychosocial assessments and interventions
Support recovery-focused, patient-centred care within a multidisciplinary team
Provide a strong psychosocial perspective to each episode of care
Promote family, cultural, and carer inclusion in care planning
Consult on family, domestic violence, and child protection matters
Support patients at risk of homelessness and connect them with community services
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance continuity of care
About You
You are a flexible and compassionate social worker who:
Has experience in mental health and understands the impact on lived experience
Works from a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed approach
Engages effectively with patients, families, and carers
Demonstrates strong assessment, communication, and collaboration skills
