This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced Social Work professional to guide and support a dedicated team at Bankstown Hospital. The role is responsible for providing professional leadership, strategic direction, and operational management to Social Work staff, ensuring high-quality, consumer-centred care for patients and their carers. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving service excellence, supporting staff development, and ensuring compliance with SWSLHD policies, relevant legislation, professional standards, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary Social Work team within a busy acute hospital setting.
- Drive the delivery of high-quality social work services that support positive patient and carer outcomes.
- Provide professional supervision, mentorship, and development opportunities for Social Work staff.
- Ensure service delivery aligns with SWSLHD policies, legislative requirements, and professional standards.
- Contribute to strategic planning, service improvement initiatives, and the ongoing development of social work practice across the hospital.

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Social Work leader who is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and driving positive outcomes for patients, carers, and the wider community.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing Social Work teams within a healthcare setting.
- Strong clinical expertise, including postgraduate experience requiring highly developed assessment, care planning and counselling skills, and a commitment to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to mentor, supervise, and support the professional development of staff.
- Sound knowledge of NSW Health policies, relevant legislation, professional standards, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
Selection Criteria

- Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

- Provide an example of how you have worked collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to improve outcomes for patients and their carers. What role did you play and what were the results?
