Selection Criteria

  1. MBBS or equivalent. Registered specialist medical practitioner, or eligible for specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), Membership of the Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (RANZCP) and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award. Applicants expecting to be awarded their FRANZCP within 3 months may be considered; if successful, the applicant will not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.
  2. Demonstrated current clinical practice skills in child and adolescent psychiatry, with ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence-based practice, including in acute CAMHS settings.
  3. Demonstrated effective communication skills (written and verbal) with other professionals, children, adolescents and families in a clinical setting, including the ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team with excellent conflict management skills, and flexibility.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  5. Demonstrated track record in supervision and training of junior medical staff, including prevocational and advanced trainees.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-directed professional development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education and continuing professional development.
  7. Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of the SNSWLHD, including the provision of services to local community, effective use of resources, preparedness to participate in provision of health services at District level.
  8. Evidence of a current unrestricted driver's licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases

This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive 
PD2023_022.  All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.

All NSW Health Category A workers are required to have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful.
