An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified Anaesthetist Specialist to join the medical team at South East Regional Hospital a Level 4 Health Facility based in the Bega Valley, part of the Southern NSW - Coastal Network.


Where you’ll be working

Bega - 429 kilometres south of Sydney, 228 kilometres from Canberra or 174 kilometres from the NSW Snow fields. Nearby Merimbula (32 kilometres) offers a regional airport with a short 55 minute flight to Sydney and daily flights to Melbourne. With a range of quality private and public schools in the area, younger generations are also be well looked after, growing up with fantastic friendly country folk, and a huge range of outdoor activities to keep them occupied with no long commutes.

Your Opportunity:
 

Provide contemporary comprehensive specialist services in Anaesthesia for optimal patient outcomes. Working as a Visiting Medical Officer with negotiable hours to be agreed with the Clinical Director or the Director of Medical Services.  

Provide and support training to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.  
 

Selection Criteria:

  1. Holds registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Anaesthetics, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.

  2. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

  3. Demonstrated significant experience relevant to Anaesthesia practice and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios.

  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team

  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.

  6. Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and SNSWLHD Values, goals and strategies.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases

This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
