About the role 

A Sleep Technician is responsible for the provision of a high standard of patient care and to provide a comprehensive sleep disorder testing service and the subsequent treatment of these disorders using CPAP, non-invasive ventilation or other.

The role is casual sleep technician, and to cover planned and unplanned leave for permanent staff. Must be able to work shift work (Mondays/ Tuesdays/ Thursdays/ Fridays - set up shift 5pm-10pm, overnight shift 9:30pm-7:30am). Training will be provided.

Liverpool Hospital Sleep Service encompasses an outpatient sleep clinic, NATA/ASA accredited five bed sleep unit, Home Ambulatory Sleep Testing Service, Respiratory Failure Service and CPAP Therapy Service.  It is currently the only public hospital within South Western Sydney Local Health District to provide a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment sleep service.

What You'll be Doing

A Sleep Technician is responsible for the provision of a high standard of patient care and to provide a comprehensive sleep disorder testing service and the subsequent treatment of these disorders using CPAP, non-invasive ventilation or other. They are expected to possess knowledge in the procedures, methodology and theory pertaining to sleep study testing and take responsibility for all tests performed.

 

Where You'll Be Working

Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

    1. Qualification or Certificate in Medicine/Nursing/Health/Science/Engineering related discipline or working towards
    2. Demonstrated high level of interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers
    3. Demonstrated experience performing testing in one of the following fields of Medicine: Sleep, Respiratory, Neurology or Cardiology
    4. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously whilst working within in a multidisciplinary team environment within a Healthcare setting
    5. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
