Remuneration:  

·       Counsellor, Sexual Assault Worker and Social Worker Level 3: $116,892 - $120,680 per annum

·       Psychologist: $80,452 - $117,577 per annum

Where you'll be working
Based at Westmead Hospital, you will join the Integrated Violence Prevention & Response Service (IVPRS), a specialist service providing strategic leadership and clinical care across sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection portfolios.

Working within one of NSW’s largest tertiary health precincts, you will collaborate with experienced clinicians and key interagency partners to deliver coordinated, survivor-centred care in a supportive and values-driven environment.

What you'll be doing 
As a Sexual Assault Counsellor, you will provide specialist therapeutic, crisis and case management services to adolescents and adults who have experienced sexual assault, as well as their non-offending family members.

 

·       Deliver counselling, assessment, advocacy and case management services

·       Participate in a 24-hour on-call roster for recent sexual assault presentations

·       Conduct high-quality initial assessments through RMES

·       Facilitate access to forensic and medical services where required

·       Maintain accurate documentation, data collection and professional reports

 

This role requires strong clinical judgement, the ability to manage complex presentations within an integrated framework, and a commitment to monitoring wellbeing and managing vicarious trauma responsibly.

Essential Criteria:

·       Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling 

·       Registration: Eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership 

 

Selection Criteria: 

1.     Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor degree) in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership.

2.     Demonstrated counselling experience in complex trauma and trauma informed practice within a Violence, Abuse & Neglect setting (e.g. sexual assault, child protection or domestic violence services).

3.     Demonstrated high level assessment, case formulation, intervention planning (including case management) and counselling skills with young people and adults, with a capacity to draw on a wide range of therapeutic modalities.

4.     Demonstrated high level understanding of the inter-related dynamics and effects of sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and domestic violence and a commitment to integrated models for working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse.

5.     Knowledge and understanding of current policies and legislation relating to sexual assault and other forms of interpersonal violence and knowledge of legal systems involved in sexual assault service provision.

6.     Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated capacity to work with in partnership with others.

7.     Experience in, or commitment to, working with individuals and families from indigenous backgrounds and/or diverse cultural backgrounds.

8.     Current NSW Driver’s License.
