Where you’ll be working

John Hunter Hospital provides a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to patient care across a broad range of specialties. The Outpatient Services team supports approximately 500 patients per day across 82 clinic rooms located in the hospital’s North and South Blocks.

What you’ll be doing

The Service Manager - Outpatients will be accountable for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while ensuring the effective and efficient use of resources. In this role, you will:

  • Lead and Manage the JHH Switchboard and Mailroom staff and monitor performance relating to these Services. 

  • Lead and manage the overall planning, development, and deployment of services within Outpatient Services.

  • Ensure strategic and operational KPIs and objectives are achieved through quality service delivery.

  • Drive innovation, workforce sustainability, and continuous improvement in care models and processes.

  • Build strong partnerships with the Senior Project Leader, Data and Activity Manager, Executive Director ICT, and the JHH General Manager to deliver service transformation.

  • Represent the service at internal and public forums, developing enduring relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Implement patient-centred care into daily operations.

 

About you

Our ideal candidate will be a highly motivated leader with:

  • A Master's qualification in health service management or equivalent leadership/management experience.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and foster a culture of clinical quality, customer service, and staff wellbeing.

  • Proven ability to act quickly, decisively, and effectively when addressing issues. Superior communication, negotiation, influencing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience representing organisations at internal and external forums.

  • Demonstrated success in building strong, enduring stakeholder relationships that improve patient outcomes.

  • Eligibility to drive in NSW.

  • Previous experience in an outpatient setting will be highly regarded.
