What you'll be doing
The Service Improvement Manager will lead and support the Executive Team in the development, implementation and monitoring of all improvement initiatives and redesign programs throughout Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH).
The Service Improvement Manager, will lead a proactive patient and clinician-driven approach to improving healthcare using a range of improvement methodologies including redesign. The position will lead and support clinical and service leaders to apply new ideas that strive to meet the Triple AIM of Healthcare: Improved Patient Experience (quality / access and experience), Reduced Costs and Better Health Outcomes across the population.
The philosophy is to focus on moving the quality of care delivered by RNSH to the next level, recognising that this will lead to improvements in our patient journey's key metrics, including Emergency Treatment Performance, Surgery Waiting Times, Length of Stay, Mortality Rates and Re-admissions.
The position will increase the organisation's capacity for structured system improvement and redesign, with support related skills development across the Hospital and will foster a culture that will embed improvement into clinical practice at all levels.
Additionally the role will participate in, lead and support:
- Efficient use of resources by streamlining the care and journey of patients inclusive of development of alternative models of service
- Make key decisions relating to strategies and plans that will facilitate achievement of project outcomes.
- Recognise when consultation with RNSH Executive staff is required prior to confirmation or communication of a decision.
- Make decisions in relation to day to day implementation, project sustainability and evaluation plans.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in a health-related field (or equivalent practical experience), together with clinical experience.
- High level skills and experience in project management, improvement and change management.
- Superior detailed knowledge of clinical redesign and familiarity with other improvement methodologies that can be used to implement change.
- Demonstrated strong ability to form effective working relationships with senior clinicians, senior managers and external partners.
