The Role

To manage the daily operations of the Ultrasound imaging department. To provide the best possible imaging and ultrasound service, ensuring a high quality of patient care to ensure a 'best practice' department with regard to the patients, visitors, medical and non-medical staff, and codes of practice

Selection Criteria

  1. A degree or equivalent in Medical Radiation Science and a post graduate diploma or equivalent qualification in Medical Diagnostic Ultrasound
  2. Current accreditation with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR). Current or eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Eligibility for the NSW EPA Radiation License
  3. Current NSW Drivers License and/or the ability to attend after hours on call in a timely manner by other forms of transport
  4. Demonstrated ability to independently perform a comprehensive range of diagnostic general ultrasound procedures in accordance with departmental service requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, General Imaging, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Vascular, Small Parts, Paediatrics and Musculoskeletal (MSK)
  5. Proven ability to organise workloads efficiently to optimise staff and equipment utilisation. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in team building, liaison, and negotiation
  6. Experience working effectively in a high-throughput, multidisciplinary healthcare environment. Commitment to ongoing personal education and professional development within the field
  7. Proven ability to manage an ultrasound imaging service, staffing resources and the ability to train and teach qualified / trainee Radiographers/Sonographers
  8. Demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with all levels of staff, patients and external agencies and the ability to positively influence organisational change
