Join the new Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC) at Westmead Hospital, part of the Cumberland West Mental Health Services Relocation Project within Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). Be part of a passionate, forward-thinking team delivering rapid access to mental health care for people presenting to the Emergency Department with acute psychological distress.

What you'll be doing
As a Senior Social Worker, you will provide specialist psychosocial assessment, intervention, and discharge coordination for mental health consumers admitted to the PECC and Emergency Department. You’ll apply recovery-oriented and trauma-informed models of care while supporting team capability and quality improvement initiatives.
Deliver advanced social work interventions including crisis support, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement
Lead risk and needs assessments to support safe, timely discharge planning
Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and education for staff and students
Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred, evidence-based care
Participate in quality improvement and professional development to drive innovation in practice

Essential Requirements:
License: Current driver’s license valid within Australia
Qualification: Degree in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
Selection Criteria:
A Social Work Degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) with significant post graduate experience working as Social Worker in relevant clinical areas, including a demonstrated understanding of the hospital setting, complex mental health conditions and psychosocial issues
Demonstrated experience in prioritising a challenging and demanding caseload; managing stressful situations; and applying effective reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of complex nature.
Demonstrated experience in working as part of a mental health multidisciplinary team both independently and collaboratively
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage clients, carers, and multidisciplinary team members, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision in a healthcare setting and ability to exercise expert advice and consultation in relation to the provision of social work services.
Commitment to ongoing professional development, including participation in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical practice and service delivery.
Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence
