About the Opportunity
Fairfield Hospital is seeking a Senior Security Officer to lead our security team, oversee daily operations, and deliver training that supports a safe and welcoming environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
This pivotal role reports to the Manager of Security & Patient Services and plays a key part in fostering team engagement and collaboration across the hospital campus, including Corella Lodge and Hammondville Braeside Hospital.
As a Senior Security Officer, you’ll provide hands-on leadership, coordinate staff duties, support compliance and quality improvement initiatives, and respond to incidents with professionalism and care. Your ability to build positive relationships with clinical teams, patients, and their families will be essential in delivering high-quality security services.

What you'll be doing
The purpose of the Senior Security Officer role is to oversee the operation, lead security staff, and deliver security related education and training at Fairfield Hospital. This position reports to the Manager Security & Patient Services.
The Senior Security Officer has a strong emphasis on team engagement in addition to standard security staff duties. The role requires a positive engagement with management team, clinical teams, consumers and their families/carers in the provision of security services for the protection of staff and consumers at Fairfield Hospital and the broader campus including Corella Lodge and Hammondville Braeside Hospital.
NOTE: Senior Security Officers, like other NSW Health staff, must contact the police if there is suspected criminal activity on or around a NSW Health premises. Senior Security Officers must not place themselves, or be expected by others to place themselves, at unnecessary risk in carrying out their duties. Where there are concerns about public safety the police should be called.

- Current NSW Security Licence in accordance with the NSW Security Industry 1997 Class 1A, First Aid Certification and an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
- Describe your experience in supervising and motivating security staff, including how you allocate tasks, support team engagement, and ensure professional service delivery in a healthcare or similar environment.
- Outline your experience in delivering staff training, monitoring compliance with policies, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives. How have you ensured high standards in security operations?
- Provide examples of how you’ve used effective communication and conflict resolution skills to manage challenging situations involving staff, patients, or the public in a professional and respectful manner.
- Detail your experience with electronic security systems, computer literacy, and working across a 7-day rotating roster. How do these skills support your ability to meet the operational needs of a hospital environment?
