St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney (SVHN) forms part of the NSW region of St Vincent’s Health Australia which is the largest diversified health care organisation within Australia’s not for profit and Catholic health care sectors. What you'll be doing

The SRMO is responsible for co-ordinating and documenting the admission, management and discharge planning of patients within the department they are working; the day-to-day assessment and management of the patients, maintaining high levels of communication with patients and family regarding the nature of their condition and its treatment; communicating and co-ordinating care with the team; arranging consultation with other staff when appropriate and; and arranging discharge and liaising with local medical officers and other community based care modalities in order to ensure the provision of optimal patient care within the St Vincent’s Health Network.
 
This position is a rotational position with 5 rotations throughout the clinical year across multiple services. It offers ongoing exposure to multiple specialties and further in-hospital experience prior to specialist training. The SRMO year is particularly suited to Residents (PGY3s and above) intending to pursue a career in internal medicine, general practice, psychiatry, palliative care, or other specialties requiring appropriate experience to fulfil training path requirements. 
 
Terms offered include Geriatrics, Haematology, Lung Transplant, Cardiac Failure and Transplant, ICU, Palliative Care, psychiatry and ED. There are a very limited number of terms available in paediatrics. There is the opportunity to rotate to Katherine Hospital in the Northern Territory for experience in a rural ED environment.

 

  1. Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander; be accepted as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander in the community in which he/she lives, or has lived. This is a genuine occupational qualification as described under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
  2. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  3. Completion of at least two (2) postgraduate years
  4. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and computer skills.
  5. Demonstrated interest in teaching and research and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  6. Evidence of commitment to the principles of patient safety and clinical quality improvement; and involvement in continuous quality improvement.
  7. A professional attitude and flexibility in work role with a preparedness and ability to participate in afterhours overtime and on-call rosters, metropolitan and including ability to work at secondment hospitals
  8. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Mission and Values of the Mary Aikenhead Ministries.
