Royal North Shore Hospital is a principal tertiary referral hospital for Northern Sydney Local Health District providing a comprehensive range of complex services to patients from across NSW. Royal North Shore Hospital provides specialty services including major trauma, severe burns, spinal cord injuries, neonatal intensive care, bone marrow transplantation, neurosurgery and interventional neuroradiology alongside acute medical, surgical, mental health, paediatric, cancer and maternity services. The campus is also home to The Kolling – a medical research institute jointly governed with the University of Sydney

What you'll be doing

The primary purpose of the Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) in the Intensive Care Unit is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients requiring Intensive Care services in a complex clinical environment. This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent.
 
Royal North Shore Hospital is a 58-bed quaternary intensive Care Unit that acts as a state referral centre for patients with major trauma, burns and spinal injuries, as well as managing complex medical and surgical patients. 

SRMOs rotate through all 4 units, two general and two surgical intensive care units that provide specific neurosurgical and cardiothoracic care for emergency and elective patients. SRMOs are expected to
participate in a 24/7 roster and may be rostered to day or night shifts across a seven-day roster.

The SRMOs will work under the guidance of the research department within the ICU in order to develop a further understanding of the role of research in medicine, with the aim of completing a research project over the course of the year.

  7. Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases

To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy PD2024_015, this includes any amendments made from time to time.
