Senior Rehabilitation Speech Pathologist
Ryde Hospital is seeking a dynamic full-time speech pathologist with a commitment to evidence-based practice and patient centred care, to provide clinical leadership and expertise within the rehabilitation caseload for a period of 13 months. The Senior Rehabilitation Speech Pathologist is responsible for providing accurate assessment and intensive intervention for patients with swallowing and communication impairments and burn injuries, and acute and outpatient cover as required.

Ryde Hospital is having an incredible $479 million complete hospital redevelopment that will transform the delivery of healthcare for the Ryde local community.
The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment will result in new health facilities and enhanced services including emergency, ICU/critical care, inpatient units, outpatient/ambulatory care services and much more.
Construction commenced in early 2023, and will provide you with a wonderful and exciting opportunity to be part of the Ryde team to change the future health services for the Ryde Community completely.
What you'll be doing
Provide assistance, support and leadership to the Allied Health (AH) team in the delivery of an efficient and high quality Speech Pathology Service to consumers of NSLHD.
The senior clinician acts as a clinical resource for other speech pathologists based at/in their service and is responsible for the assessment, intervention and management of swallowing, communication and voice disorders for consumers within their allocated caseload.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- A bachelor or post graduate degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia. Evidence of extensive clinical experience, with minimum experience as a Level 2 Speech Pathologist.
- Evidence of proficient written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the proven ability to liaise with novice and experienced health professionals and external service providers. Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use health information systems.
- Demonstrated current clinical knowledge of the management of adult dysphagia, communication disorders and burn injuries, including the application of evidence-based practice in Speech Pathology rehabilitation.
- Demonstrated exposure to and experience in provision of objective swallowing assessment, including Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and Video-Fluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS).
