About us:
The Office of the Deputy Secretary, Finance and Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer provides strategic leadership, governance, and oversight of operational processes within the Financial and Corporate Services Division. Core functions include:
- Streamlining business processes, ensuring timely responses to Division priorities, and communicating key financial and system updates. In addition to financial governance, budgeting, billing and compliance for Ministry of Health and other entities
- Supporting the transmission of evidence based financial advice to Ministers, the Executive and stakeholders, turning complex data into insights that guide decision making and policy development
- Playing a key role in anticipating emerging risks, driving best practice financial management, and building strong partnerships to align system priorities.
- Supporting capability building and leading transformation initiatives that strengthen governance, optimise processes and embed continuous improvement across the Division.
- Managing key site operations across 1 Reserve Road, Gladesville, Callan Park and Kirkbride as well as Manage purchase requisitions, PCard processes and travel systems.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the NSW Ministry of Health as a Senior Project and Policy Officer, where you will lead the delivery of complex strategic projects and policy initiatives that support the achievement of NSW Health's priorities. Working within the Ministry's Financial and Corporate Services Division, you will manage the development, implementation and evaluation of projects, provide strategic policy advice, and coordinate initiatives that drive organisational improvement. The role works closely with NSW Health agencies and key stakeholders to support the delivery of corporate and shared service reforms.
Crown Clerk grade 9/10 starting salary from $$133,348- $46,945 plus Super, with a 35-hour work week, work location - 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards

What you will be doing
- Manage and oversee all aspects of project planning, development and implementation for a range of projects, including developing project plans, coordinating resources, meeting reporting requirements, and supporting project-related activities to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, to quality standards and within agreed scope in line with established agency project management methodology.
- Research, analyse and review complex policy issues, identifying emerging issues, developing evidence-based options, and recommended solutions to resolve problems and mitigate risks.
- Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to engage stakeholders and ensure project deliverables are met, and to facilitate the appropriate interpretation and implementation of policies.
- Monitor and evaluate all aspects of project and policy implementation, including risk and contingency management, benefits realisation, project and policy impact and quality measures, to identify and address issues, assess project progress and effectiveness, and achieve project and policy outcomes.
- Manage a project team/s, ensuring compliance with governance and quality requirements, to successfully deliver all key project/s milestones and outcomes.
- Undertake research and formulate recommendations to support evidence-based project planning and policy development and decision making.
- Provide advice and information to stakeholders on emerging project issues and to support project development and delivery in line with established plans, timeframes, policy objectives and other project and priorities.
- Prepare correspondence, written reports, publications, and briefs, that are informative and aligned with NSW Health requirements, to respond to Government requests.
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of policy advice in a complex and multi-disciplinary environment.
- High-level skills and demonstrated experience in producing high quality and content-appropriate communications for the dissemination of information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of financial concepts and issues, particularly as they relate to the health system.
- The ability to work in a small dynamic team environment.
