About the role
Are you passionate about addressing domestic and family violence and other forms of violence, abuse and neglect? This is a unique opportunity to make a positive difference to the health and wellbeing of people in NSW in an innovative and dynamic policy environment. The Prevention and Response to Violence Abuse and Neglect (PARVAN) Unit is the lead NSW Health Unit working to prevent and respond to domestic and family violence and support the public health system across NSW to deliver safe, effective and evidence-based services.
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Policy Officer to join our Domestic and Family Violence Team within PARVAN, and work with us to improve the safety, health and wellbeing of children, young people, adults and families in NSW.
Crown Clerk 9/10, starting salary from $125,693 - $138,510 p.a. plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.

What you'll be doing
The Domestic and Family Violence Team is responsible for a diverse and interesting range of policy, program and project work, including:
- undertaking and supporting policy development and project work with a focus on improving and promoting domestic and family violence counselling, medical and forensic services;
- participating in the design of new violence, abuse and neglect services and clinical pathways;
- overseeing key identification, prevention and response programs, such as the NSW Health Domestic Violence Routine Screening Program
- providing advice and support to NSW Health Domestic and Family Violence Services, interagency partners, and public health organisations, and working with ministerial and parliamentary teams.
The Senior Policy Officer will hold particular skills in stakeholder engagement, with effective communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
Background or experience in violence, abuse and neglect clinical, policy or program work is preferred but not essential.
Where you'll be working
The Domestic and Family Violence Team, PARVAN in the Government Relations, Strategy and Violence Prevention Branch manages a busy portfolio focused on supporting NSW Health services to provide domestic and family violence responses which are high quality, evidence-based, culturally safe and trauma informed.
