About the role
We are looking for a high performing Senior Policy and Project Officer to join the NSW Health State Preparedness and Response Unit, System Management Branch, within the NSW Ministry of Health.
The State Preparedness and Response Unit is responsible for achieving NSW Health’s objectives relating to planning, preparedness, response and recovery to incidents and emergencies arising from a range of hazards.
The Senior Policy and Project Officer manages strategic and operational projects that support the achievement of NSW Health’s objectives relating to State-level emergency management. The role will be required to provide operational support in the response to health emergencies which will involve out-of-hours support in various locations to best meet situational requirements.

Crown Clerk 9/10, starting salary from $129,464 - $142,665 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week, work location- 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards

What you'll be doing
Undertake policy and guideline development, review and evaluation regarding health emergency planning, preparedness, response and recovery.
Prepare high quality written advice in the form of reports, briefs, policy, discussion papers, or circulars about incidents and emergencies arising from a range of hazards.
Manage projects to successfully deliver all key milestones and outcomes, while developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships including effective communication, negotiation and issue management.
Maintain the State Health Emergency Operation Centre, equipment caches and systems to enable rapid activation and response to health emergencies.
Support the State Health Services Functional Area Coordinator (HSFAC) in preparedness and response activities and represent NSW Health as a Health Liaison Officer as required in Emergency Operations Centres. After hours work may be required.
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
Demonstrated skills and experience in managing all stages of the policy project cycle (planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation).
Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
The ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Availability and flexibility to participate in activities to support NSW Health during operational or emergency responses; and participation in an on-call roster as required.
