Achieve Something Great
This senior role provides an exciting opportunity to lead, influence, and strengthen culturally responsive mental health care across the Macarthur region. The successful candidate will primarily work within the Adult Community Mental Health Teams at Macarthur, with additional opportunities to support families of children and adolescents engaged with the service. South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) is home to a well-established, highly supported Aboriginal Mental Health Team comprising Clinicians, Senior/Principal Workers, and Aboriginal Mental Health Workers. Many team members are embedded across services to facilitate meaningful engagement with Aboriginal consumers and carers, ensuring their cultural, social, and clinical needs remain central to care planning. The Senior Principal Aboriginal Mental Health Worker plays a key leadership role within this network—supporting team members, strengthening cultural responsiveness across services, and working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. This position will offer leadership, mentoring, and service delivery support across the Macarthur to Wingecarribee regions.
Are You the Right Fit?
If you are a cultural leader and experienced mental health practitioner who is committed to supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal communities, this role will allow you to combine cultural authority, clinical practice, leadership and collaboration. - Provide culturally responsive, evidence‑based, recovery‑focused mental health support, including holistic assessment, care coordination and working within the NSW Mental Health Act.
