The Role
The Treatment and Rehabilitation Clinic (TRC) is one of three services within the NSW Community Forensic Mental Health Service (CFMHS). The TRC adopts a multi-disciplinary, collaborative model of care focused on recovery, rehabilitation, and community safety. It provides evidence-based biopsychosocial treatment and rehabilitation services to support people in achieving recovery from complex disorders that result in problematic behaviours including offending.
The TRC is a community-based clinic but will also provide initial prison in-reach services to support future clinic patients, to optimise safety and treatment success. The initial focus of the service will be the provision of evidence-based assessment and treatment for problem sexual behaviours. In the longer term, the clinic will also focus on other problem behaviours.
The Senior Occupational Therapist TRC is primarily responsible for delivering specialist forensic mental health care, which considers peoples' clinical, psychosocial, occupational and risk vulnerabilities while applying best practice clinical tools. The Senior Occupational Therapist will provide specialist assessment, formulation and intervention concerning occupational performance and engagement to people presenting with problem behaviours. Interventions will be provided individually, in groups, and via virtual health/telehealth as needed. The Senior Occupational Therapist will assist in the development and evaluation of therapeutic programs and provide supervision, consultation and training to other occupational therapists or allied health staff within the organisation. The Senior Occupational Therapist will work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team and will also engage with other treating teams and key stakeholders to optimise a patient’s occupational functioning, treatment and recovery, and build capacity to manage problem behaviours.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Demonstrated extensive experience in forensic mental health practice, specifically risk assessment, management and treatment of problematic behaviours.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in providing clinical supervision and/or training.
