About the Opportunity 
As Senior Network Engineer of our Secure Service Edge Team at eHealth NSW, you will help make a real difference in healthcare through continuously improving services and developing products under the Secure Service Edge Platform, enabling fast and secure connectivity of vital systems used by the clinicians of NSW.

This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in enhancing and maturing our Secure Service Edge platform, delivering modern Zero Trust and least privilege connectivity to critical healthcare applications. You will contribute to automation initiatives that simplify and streamline business processes, creating self-service outcomes for our customers, while also supporting a culture of knowledge sharing by helping to educate peers, stakeholders, and customers on the importance and transformational potential of Zero Trust Network and Internet Access.

In this role, you will:

  • Build, develop, and maintain complex and critical projects, ensuring technical governance
  • Participate in consultation process, by understanding both business and customer needs as the SME of SSE platform
  • Develop technical roadmaps and business processes for operational matters, including managing the relationship between the business and managed service providers
  • Collaborate with team, wider business, and external partners – including conducting knowledge sharing sessions and education as a SME
  • Be an example of agile ways of working through continuous self-growth, ensuring skills align to changing business needs and/or customer requirements

     

 

This role is internally referred to as Senior Systems Engineer.

 

About You

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Extensive demonstrated experience in network security engineering, including intermediate knowledge with cloud-delivered security services or SSE technologies.
  • Expert knowledge of SSE technologies, frameworks (SWG, CASB, ZTNA, FWaaS) and associated vendors.
  • Strong understanding of Zero Trust principles and secure access models.
  • Hands-on experience managing policies across multi-tenant environments.
  • Experience with automation & orchestration (Python, Terraform, Azure Pipelines or equivalent).
  • Solid knowledge of routing, VPN, DNS, TLS/SSL, and other network fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

 

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with large-scale, global enterprise deployments.
  • Knowledge of broader SASE components (e.g., SD-WAN, DLP, IoT security).
  • Cloud security and compliance experience with Azure, AWS, and/or GCP.
  • Relevant certifications from Zscaler, Netskope, Cisco, Public Cloud Platforms, etc
